While Internet marketing has provided a platform that literally levels the playing field for business owners and potential business owners, we still have to cater to an offline world. Digital products are very popular. They can be created with a very small budget, and easily delivered over an Internet connection. But offline products earn more revenue for you too, especially since physical products have a higher perceived value.
Many Internet Marketers struggle with developing a product that is suitable for offline consumption. Thankfully, podcasting has a viable and easy answer. You can turn your collection of podcasts into a physical product, very easily, at little cost.
Mobile devices are very popular, but not everyone has one, or wants one. Of that group of people, there are plenty that would like to take information on the go, but because they don't have or want a portable mobile device, they don't have that option. You have the ability to give them that option with your podcast content.
Creating a physical product with your podcasts is really quite easy. When you have so many podcasts under your belt, you simply create an audio CD with all of them on there. You then create a nice, professional looking label for your CDs, and start marketing them. Make sure that the CDs are useable in a regular CD player, such as that you would find in a car stereo system.
You could alternately make a DVD, which would be useable on a home DVD player, a mini DVD player, or a computer DVD player. You can use PowerPoint or Windows Movie Maker for this purpose, and include visuals, or you could turn your video podcasts into a DVD as well.
Now, why would people pay for something that they can get for free? They will pay for it because they want it in a more flexible format. There are millions of people who like to listen to informational CDs while driving, but don't own iPods. There are those that want to view your video, but don't have a good enough Internet connection or a good enough system to be able to do so with their computers.
Before you ditch this notion, think of this. You don't have to have a warehouse full of CDs or DVDs waiting to be shipped. You can print on demand, and you can do this yourself, or you can hire a replication and fulfillment service to do this for you, for a more 'hands off' approach.
As a marketer - Internet or otherwise - you want to get your message spread as far and wide as possible. By not making your podcasts or vodcasts physical products, you are failing to reach a large portion of the population, even if it isn't the majority.
By turning your podcast episodes into a physical product, you will not only be serving a portion of the market that is left without options, you will also find that you have the ability to turn a tidy profit. Creating and distributing a physical product, on CD or DVD is much easier and cheaper than one might expect.
