Meditation guided sessions might become boring or dull after you have become accustomed to meditating. If you find that is the case, it might be time to try out a more advanced meditation routine. As with any form of meditation, you will want to relax and prepare yourself for the trance state. If you have some favorite breathing exercises, it would be good to work on those. Then you can continue to a more challenging meditation and potentially move away from guided meditation, if that is your goal.
Decide on a mantra to repeat during this meditation. It can be very simple or more complex, depending on your comfort level. As you repeat this level throughout this meditation guided session, follow the sound of your inner voice to its source. This is known as your inner awareness. When searching for this source, be careful not to work too hard, as you can generate too much brain activity that can bring you out of your meditative state.
Do your best to remember any odd or random thoughts, especially if they take you out of your meditation guided trance. Knowing the types of thoughts that tend to distract you is a great way to build up your external awareness and prevent these thoughts from occurring during meditation. When these thoughts occur, see if you can trace the voice of them back to their source. This may or may not be the spot of your inner awareness.
There are times where your interior and exterior awareness will overlap. Creating this juxtaposition is the goal of this advanced meditation guided form. When you achieve it, you will not only be able to suppress the voice of your outer awareness, but you will also be able to use its power to speak toward your inner awareness. This will likely take several sessions to achieve and more to master, so be sure to stick with it. The challenge alone should motivate you to succeed.
Once you feel confident in your ability to join your two consciousnesses together, you can begin to add external factors to your meditation sessions. Try to meditate with a focus on things in the room without losing concentration. This can also help you quiet the voice of your outer awareness. Instead of focusing on these thoughts, you focus on your silent surroundings, or perhaps the soothing sounds of your preferred CD with which you become meditation guided.
