Meditation guided imagery is a form of meditation in which you let the mind stray from commonplace thoughts by focusing on a relaxing or other intentional image. You can focus on any manner of image provided that this image does not generate extraneous thoughts. You might want to prepare a special space for guided imagery meditation consisting of dim lighting or candles, comfortable seating and soft music that can all help create the perfect environment for your guided imagery meditation sessions.

If your chosen meditation guided position is sitting up, be sure to sit with your back straight and strong posture. Perform your favorite breathing exercises and other relaxation techniques to help you fully relax. If you go to a group meditation session, you will likely have a period of time set aside for this portion of meditating. The guidance you receive from your meditation CD might either walk you through specific types of visualization or give you minimal direction in the hopes that you can generate your own imagery to meditate to. If you have trouble with some of the images or find that visualization is too difficult, try thinking of the directions the meditation guided CD gives you in a different way. You can even simplify them and work up to more complex versions of the same activity or technique. Think of the guidance as merely a suggestion and don't take the instructions too seriously or literally, but as a source of inspiration to help you create your own stronger meditation routine.

Keep trying meditation guided techniques, especially those that challenge you. Building up meditative strength can transfer over into the part of your mind that keeps you strong and helps you to achieve your goals. Guided imagery meditation might frequently ask you to visualize yourself after you have achieved your goal in an effort to train your mind and your body to work towards achieving your goals.
