Maybe you've been hearing more and more about these team building events and you want to know more about it. Well one place you should really consider looking is online at some of the sites available to you. These sites are VERY good to use because they give you a ton of really useful ideas on different groups, projects, activities and even exercises you can utilize in order to accomplish the things you need to in your business. One thing you really have to realize as a "Boss" is that it isn't just about these people working for you doing what they are supposed to do.
They are people. And people sometimes need recognition that they are more than just a paycheck to you or that they are more than just a number. Oftentimes you see Hollywood movies and it's always the little guy that ends up getting frustrated because the boss never sees him for more than anything but -- a worker bee.
I don't mean to be callous. It's not how I think of my employees. But I guess some people do! It's important that when you realize you are doing this to change it immediately.
Not only is it going to make your workers happier but it's going to bring more productivity to the table. It's a nice little break from the monotony of life and work. Team building refers to a wide-range of activities, normally in a business enterprise setting, for improving team functioning.
Team building is pursued via a mixture of practices, and can range from mere bonding activities (such as group chocolate tasting) to activities designed to produce a team (including group assessment and group-dynamic games), usually falling somewhere in between.
It broadly speaking sits within the theory and practice of organizational maturation, but can also be applied to sports teams, school groups, and other contexts.
A few of the activities for team building that you might want to consider are things like sports, get-aways, trust exercises (trust fall, running free or leap of faith), but also more hardcore or fun activities such as rappelling, abseiling, parachuting, para-punting, base-jumping and even go-kart racing.
I really liked seeing that last option because this is a really fun thing to do. It's also a gracious and exciting thing to involve your workers and employees into as well. People tend to see this almost as a treat of sorts. If they do their job and they do it well they will be thanked with a trip to the Go-Kart center.
But it's also a nice way to get your group together in a fun and relaxed situation which helps create better work relationships, morale, and self-importance! This is one of the most spectacular ways of going about bettering your business -- start with the people you depend on; your workers. You will be really surprised how this ends up changing everything for the better!
