All over the United States, if not the world there are annual Christmas Boat parades. I know when I lived in Sarasota, Florida there was a great one there and even in the small town of Navarre where I live now we have a pretty good Christmas Boat Parade. But ours is minuscule in proportion to that of the one in Newport Beach California.

If you can imagine a fleet of million dollar yachts, kayaks, electric boats and other types of water craft floating through the Newport Beach Harbor then you can visualize the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. The seasonal parade features dazzling holiday lights that light up the bay, amazing the nearly one million visitors that crowd Newport Beach and Newport Harbor.

From the eighteenth of December through the 22nd you will find over two hundred different watercraft enjoying this fun annual event for the Christmas Holidays. The majority of these vessels of course are covered in Christmas decorations and many are also blaring holiday music from their expensive marine grade sound systems with carolers dressed in holiday attire on deck. Would you believe that some of these high end boat owners spend over 50k just to decorate their yacht for this one event?

The Newport Beach Boat Parade has entertained the local populace and other visitors for nearly a hundred years with its fourteen mile course of decorated water vessels. The course of the parade takes it by many restaurants, large expensive waterfront homes, and public beaches where many gather to view the holiday event.

In recent years many charter boat companies have begun to offer those interested in participating in the parade a way to do so even if they don't own a boat. They take customers on a site seeing tour of all the lavish luxury homes that make up a group known as the Ring of Lights. This has proven to be a very popular addition to the annual event and there are now awards and prizes offered to the homes that have the best Holiday Decorations.

You may not have a large yacht or a boat or even a kayak but you can still enjoy Christmas Boat Parades in your area if you live near the water just by calling up a local charter boat company. There are many enjoyable things to do on a boat, even in the winter time as this article has demonstrated. In my opinion, as a water person I believe everyone should own a boat of some kind, but I know that some people are landlubbers. I doubt that would be you however or you wouldn't have read this far.
